First Holy Communion:

"This is my body, given for you ...this is my blood shed for you." These words that we hear during communion are both an invitation and a promise: an invitation that all are welcomed to the Lord's Table and a promise that Jesus has done something great for you-that is, he died on the cross so that sin and death could not separate us from the love of God. There is no minimum age for receiving this sacrament, although it is customary for Christians to receive some instruction prior to first receiving. Please also know that Holy Communion (AKA "Eucharist," "Body and Blood," and "Bread and Wine") is also food for our faith journey: Christ comes to us in, with, and under the bread and wine to nourish us and give us strength to grow in faith. First Communion classes are offered several times a year. If you are interested in participating in our next First Communion course, please express your interest to our Pastor.

Sometimes, being a young teenager in this world is tough-there is an attraction to boys and girls, new hormonal emotions, and building on one's sense of "self"-and all of these are packed within one little being! Confirmation is an opportunity to meet with peers and discuss how God is working within their body, mind and spirit. We openly discuss a variety of real-situational concerns such as body image, their world around them, friendships and relationships, service, and the Bible. Every topic is designed for teenagers to prayerfully discover that they are specifically part of God's master plan and that they are loved in the most intimate way through our Savior Jesus Christ. Confirmation classes are geared toward 7th and 8th graders and we offer a variety of activities to put our faith into action, like the 30-Hour Famine, contemporary worship with peers as part of a larger community, and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore.

Warning to all 7th and 8th graders: you just might develop a lasting and meaningful relationship with God and your peers!

High School Ministry (EMERGENCE):

Emergence is a ministry for high schoolers. Peer pressure, body image, sex, friends, relationship, and school- it's tough being a contemporary teen! This is a great opportunity to have open (small group) discussion with other peers about how to live faithfully among today's demands, while uncovering the potentials of who God created them to be! We meet monthly.
