Helping Others

Helping Others

When asked to count our blessings, we might rattle off things like family, friends, health, life, or success. But, what about those amongst us, in our own or neighboring communities, that struggle to list those things? We are blessed to be a blessing to others! Whether it’s by offering a helping hand, providing a listening ear, offering mercy, or showing compassion, we can share these gifts through services to others in our communities. We walk together, side by side, so nobody has to walk alone. We strive to provide a sense of spiritual wellness to everyone we encounter. And with a mission statement such as ours: Reaching Out to Share Christ's Love, every time we share the gospel outside of our church walls, we are literally doing just this.

Free, 24/7 mini-food pantry. Do you know someone who is struggling to provide food for their family or just needs a little help until the next check comes along?... Our church has  a free, mini-food pantry that has 24/7 access and is self-service. We call it The Blessing Box. Take a little or take a lot! No judgment, no forms to fill out! Come when it is convenient for you! We are just an awesome little church loving and helping anyone in need. We try to keep it stocked with "complete meals" of canned fruits, veggies, soups, and meat We also try to also include baby care items and personal care items which tend to be in "higher demand."

Please note: We often get questions of how people can contribute to the Blessing Box (because they, too, help us help others). Thank you for your generosity! We'd love to go shopping for you to ensure compete meals and those higher demand items. You can go on our homepage and click on our PayPal Donate. Select the drop down menu, "Helping Others."  Again, thank you!

School Supplies

School Supply Drive

Throughout the year we donate school supply kits to give to children in our community that are facing homelessness, financial strife, or are in need of extra support so they can have a good school year. ... We also provide essential materials to teachers as a way to support their occupational ministry that they do in their own classrooms.

Sharing Table

The Sharing Table

Several times a year, Holy Communion Lutheran Church serves as host for the Sharing Table...The Sharing Table, a local soup kitchen for Harford County residents, is dedicated to reaching out to fellow citizens in need. They place no qualifications on those they serve and welcome all to their table. We share conversation and serve a hot meal to approximately 75-125 people. Volunteers from our church volunteer to cook the same recipe and/or serve the meal. Fully cooked meals can be delivered to the church prior to serving day or directly to the Sharing Table on the day we host. The Sharing Table is located at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Willoughby Road in Edgewood.

Other Ways to Get Involved at Holy Communion

Adult Choir

Adult Choir

Our choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm and sings regularly at our 8:30 am traditional service on Sunday mornings.... We sing anthems that range from familiar tunes to classical pieces and prove to be very inspirational to our congregation. We've even been known to try our hands (or voices!) at rhythmic accompaniment as well! We sing regularly at special services (Easter and Christmas) and with other Fallston community churches during our Thanksgiving service. Finally, our choir is a place of fellowship, friendship and many laughs. No auditions are necessary and we have singing parts for every voice!

Praise Band

Praise Band

We are a contemporary worship group very much influenced by popular Christian music where the use of modern instruments is commonplace. We perform regularly at our 10:15 am contemporary service on Sunday mornings.... We utilize a sound system and a projector allowing the congregation to read the lyrics and join the singing. We sing songs found on Christian music radio stations, but we also include many classic and some revamped hymns. We are always looking for new members!
